There has some very constant rain in Guwahati, Assam since many days. This resulted in worsening the area surrounding the river and lower region areas of the city. On Thursday, the incessant rainfall followed by the heavy storms in the catchment area badly affected the population of the city. Approximately, 3, 00,00 peoples are shifting to other safer zone. Almost 13 districts of the state are miserably affected by the heavy downpour of the rain. The unanimous rain in Assam is not terminating its speed or the flow of its extent & this has created some dangerous situation for the state.
Flood in Assam
River Puthimari from Kamrup, Jia Bharali in Sonitpur, Beki in Barpeta, River Brahmpautra are the rivers that are flowing above the red mark level means there is possibility of floods from all this rivers. Moreover Brahmaputra is above the dangerous stake at Diburgarh and Nematighat districts. Since the rising trend in the water level is maintaining higher and higher it is causing the fear to pour some villages in water.
Flood Affected Areas in Assam
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) revealed that they will soon take necessary precautionary steps to make the village out of troubles and make the flood affected areas feasible to transfer themselves. Specifically Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Nalbari, Sonitpur, Barpeta, Goalpara, Dhemaji , Kokarjhar, Chirang are listed in the severely affected districts of Assam.

This year’s flood caused death is 5 and is soon frightening to happen more if rain doesn’t stop. 2 in Lakhimpura and 1 from Baksa, Sonitpur and Bongaigaon has been reported. The reports of the bridges breakage, road damages, embankments , road blockage , building collapses have been confirmed from the badly affected regions. The people are finding the shelters as it is difficult to tackle the situation in 11-13 districts of Assam.
Though the rain is a natural phenomenon and the worst part is that human beings can’t do anything regarding that. The only thing that can be done is to shift the village people and affected regions to safe zone for food and shelter. The respective and concerned district administrations have started relief works opening almost 150 relief camps. More than 1 Lakh people can get the shelter under this area and the try is going on to make more camps to accommodate the other 2 lakh people. PM Modi planning to visit soon after his visit in Dubai.
28k hectares of farmland is under flood waters till now and it is noted to be increasing in the range hour by hour. Area wise it is affecting 611 villages which is really devastating for the state. This villages consists of 3 lakh people population which includes 187 villages from Kokrajhar, 137 villages from Dhemaji and 113 small villagesfrom Bongaigaon.
